Anker Soundcore Space Q45 vs JBL Live 780NC: Budget vs Mid-Range ANC Comparison

The sub-$200 ANC market is where the most interesting competition happens. Anker's Soundcore Space Q45 and JBL's Live 780NC both promise flagship-level features at half the price. After testing both, here is how they compare.

Noise Cancellation: JBL Wins

JBL's adaptive ANC is a generation ahead — it adjusts to ambient noise in real-time and handles mid-frequency voices better. Anker's ANC is good for constant noise (engines, HVAC) but less effective against office chatter. For commuting: Anker. For the office: JBL. Check Anker | Check JBL

Sound Quality: Anker Wins (with EQ)

Out of the box, the Q45 sounds bass-heavy and slightly muddy. But Anker's companion app has an excellent EQ — after customization, the Q45 sounds better than the JBL with more detailed treble and controlled bass. The JBL has a warmer, more forgiving stock tuning that needs less EQ work.

Battery and Build

Anker: 50 hours ANC on, 65 hours ANC off — class-leading. JBL: 40 hours ANC on, 50 off. Both charge via USB-C. Build quality: JBL feels more premium with metal headband sliders; Anker is all plastic but well-constructed.

Verdict

JBL Live 780NC: better out-of-box sound, better ANC for voices, more premium feel. Anker Q45: better battery, better EQ customization, slightly better ANC for constant noise. Both are excellent — your choice depends on whether you prioritize ANC for commuting (Anker) or office (JBL). See our budget ANC headphone guide for more options.
